Understanding manga demographics
Manga is usually grouped by the audience it was originally aimed at, and knowing the labels makes picking easier. Shonen targets younger teen boys and leans into action and friendship; shojo centers romance and relationships; seinen is written for adults with darker, more complex themes; and josei focuses on adult women.
